App Installer - How to set up Joomla

Before you start, please refer to this Knowledge Base article to ensure that your site meets the basic requirements for Joomla to run smoothly on our servers. 

The first step is to create a MySQL database in Control Panel. How to create a new MySQL database

 
Then go to your Winhost Control Panel, and under "Site Tools" click the App Installer button.
 
Find Joomla in the App Installer and click "Select this Application >>."
 
To install Joomla directly in the root of your site, make sure the "AppPath" is left blank.

Click the URL link when the App Installer has completed uploading Joomla to your account. If your domain name is not pointing to Winhost yet, use the secondary URL provided with your account in the Site Info Section.
 

Main Configuration
  • Enter the values you wish to use. Make sure to remember the admin username and password - you will need this information to log back into the domain section of the application.
  • Click the "Next" button.
 
Database Configuration

Select MySQL from the "Database Type" menu.

Host Name: the Database Server URL in your Winhost Control Panel.
Username: the MySQL database username
Password: the MySQL database password.
Database Name: the MySQL database name.

Click Next.


 
Finalization

Install Sample Data - Choose which sample data you wish to use (if any). The default of None creates the basic Joomla design without sample data.  Click the Install button.


 
Remove Installation Folder

Once the configuration is completed, connect to your site via FTP and delete the installation folder.

 
That's it, Joomla installation is now complete.
