Domain pointer service

The Domain Pointer Service allows you to point additional domain names to your website.

Important Notes

  • The Domain Pointer Service will point additional domain name(s) to the root of your primary hosted domain.
  • Domain pointers do not include email accounts. However, email aliases for domain pointers are available. Please refer to this Knowledge Base article.
  • We do not point additional domains to subdirectories.
    To point a domain pointer to a subdirectory, you will need to use a redirect script. Please review this  Knowledge Base article for an example of redirect code.
  • Adding a domain pointer does not register the domain.
  • If your domain is registered with an external registrar, the name servers or DNS records may need to be updated.

Winhost Name Servers

If required, use the following name servers:
  • ns1.winhost.com
  • ns2.winhost.com
  • ns3.winhost.com

How to Enable the Domain Pointer Service

  1. Click the Sites tab.
  2. Click the domain link for the specific site.
  3. In the Site Info Manager, click the Domain Pointer button.
  4. Enter the domain name you want to add as a domain pointer.
  5. (Optional) Enable email aliases for the domain on this page if needed.
