How to configure a secure email connection to your iPhone/Apple iOS

We support secure SSL/TLS connections to our email servers. This article will show you how to set up a secure connection with your iPhone.

  • Click on the Home button
  • Go to Settings
  • Click on Mail
  • Click on Accounts
  • Click Add Account
  • Choose Other
  • Click Add Mail Account
  • Enter your name, email address, password and description of the profile
  • Click Next
  • Select IMAP

For the “Incoming mail server”, enter:

  • Host Name: mail.HostingAccountDomain.com (replace HostingAccountDomain.com with your email domain)
  • User Name: enter the full email address of the email account you are accessing
  • Password: enter the password for that email account

For the “Outgoing mail server (SMTP)”, enter:

  • Host Name: mail.HostingAccountDomain.com (replace HostingAccountDomain.com with your email domain)
  • User Name: enter the full email address of the email account you are accessing
  • Password: enter the password for that email account
  • Click Next

You will get a certificate warning about the server identity. We installed an SSL certificate on our email server for the convenience and security of our customers. But the problem is that we can’t install a certificate for every customer domain on the server. Instead, we installed a certificate for *.internetmailservice.net. The iPhone will display the warning because of the domain name mismatch; you are trying to reach mail.HostingAccountDomain.com, but the SSL certificate was issued to *.internetmailserver.net. The certificate we installed is safe to use.

  • Click Continue (to accept the certificate)
  • Click Save

Your iPhone may set the default SMTP port to 25. Many internet service providers block port 25, so you should change the SMTP port to 587.

  • Go to Settings
  • Click Mail
  • Click Accounts
  • Click on the account you just created
  • Click Account
  • Click SMTP
  • Click on mail.HostingAccountDomain.com
  • Change the Server Port to: 587
  • Click Done

You’re all set! Now your iPhone now has secured, encrypted communication with our email server.
