App Installer - How to set up WordPress

  1. Before you start, please refer to this Knowledge Base article to ensure that your site meets the basic requirements for WordPress to run smoothly on our servers. 

     The first step is to create a MySQL database in Control Panel. How to create a new MySQL database

     Setting up WordPress
    1. Go to your Winhost Control Panel, and under "Site Tools" click the App Installer.
  2. Find WordPress in the App Installer and click "Select this Application >>."




    • To install WordPress into a sub-directory enter the name of the sub-folder you wish to use in the text field provided by the App Installer in the control panel.  If you wish to install it on the root of the site account remove the text from the box provided in the App Installer.
    • Go to the web application's Install wizard by clicking the URL once the App Installer is done installing web application on the server. If your domain name is not pointing to our web server you can use the secondary URL we provide you in the control panel's Site Info section. Control Panel Site Manager tutorial

    1. WordPress will prompt you to create a configuration file, click the button.
    2. Click "Let's go!" 
    3. In the "Database Name" field enter the name of the database (go to Control Panel to see the details for your MySQL database. How to manage MySQL database).





    4. In the "User Name" field enter the primary username for your database.
    5. The password for your database is the same as your primary FTP user's password at the time the database was created. You can reset the database password through the MySQL Manager.
    6. The "Database Host" is the Database Server listed for the MySQL Manager in Control Panel.
    7. "Table Prefix" allows you to run multiple WordPress installations from one database. If you are running only one WordPress installation, it doesn't matter whether you keep or remove the wp_ prefix.
    8. Click the "Submit" button. WordPress will make sure your database connection settings are correct. If they are, you can click the "Run the install" button to run the installer, otherwise you will be prompted to review your database connection settings.
    9. In the "Site Title" field, enter the name of your new WordPress site.
    10. Enter an administrator username in the "Username" field.
    11. Enter a password in the "Password" field, enter it again in the field directly below.
    12. Enter the email address to associate with your administrative user in the "Your Email" field. This will be used primarily for the forgotten password feature. 
    13. Check the box next to "Privacy" to allow search engines to index your site.
    14. Click the "Install WordPress" button.
  3. That's it, you've finished installing WordPress.
